How to make it easier for people to find your LinkedIn Profile, especially if there are multiple people with a variation of your name.
The first word of your Professional Headline is connected to your name, in a search.
The first word in my Professional Headline is Interesting. The Professional Headline is just below your name. If you search for me by entering Dave Savage interesting, my profile comes to the top of the search list, even though there is a combination of Dave Savage and David Savage on 59 pages of a LinkedIn search. I even come to the top of the list if you search David Savage Interesting
On my business card and on my website I suggest that folks find my LinkedIn profile at Dave Savage Interesting.
So you have a couple of choices. You can make note of the first word of your Professional Headline and use it as I have. Or you have choose to revise your first sentence to have a more suitable word as the first word.
And If you want 2nd and 3rd level folks to be able to contact you, you may want to do as I have and include your current contact information in the Current section of your profile, next to your picture.
I did this by adding my contact information in the second line (Company Name) of each 3 Experience, job profiles. I also added my contact information to my Education listing because a 40 year old BS in Business degree isn’t very relevant these days.
Do avoid including contact information throughout your profile because you’re so in demand that you’re afraid of being overwhelmed with direct contact requests from 2nd and 3rd level folks? Are you overwhelmed with contact requests from 1st level contacts?
