Come to my monthly Discussion Salons
The next one is Wednesday October 13th  7-9:30PM
The topic will be Bio-engineering and the many ethical issues  that the new technologies bring to us.

We had 14 at our September Salon where we discussed manners and common courtesies.

Previous topics have included: Government secrets, drug laws, the Fair tax, What is art?, and government debt and deficits

Have you lamented the shallow conversation that goes on at most social events? You are certain to meet some interesting future friends at my gatherings. Deeper and relaxed conversations on debateable issues are what "Salons" are all about.  We share in a fun way, without demeaning others.

There is no cost other than your contribution to the refreshment  table.   We have room for 15.

LET"S TRADE PLANTS
I rescue landscape plants from redevelopment sites and trade with friends. At the moment I have cana lilies, varegated lariope, and fescue sod for trading.  Do you have extras of anything or plants that need dividing or thinning?

Do you pass by a building, will landscaping, that is due to be torn down for redevelopment?  Let me know.  Most of the time, the plants get destroyed in the process.  Let's see what worthwile plants there are to be saved for our yards.

Re-use idea
Do you throw out your used zip-lock food bags?  I wash mine out and reuse them for hobby, office bathroom, jewelry and hardware parts organizing.  Put some soapy water and a sponge in the bag, zip it up and shake, shake, shake. for a good-enough cleaning.

Our inventors Assoc. had a special event at the La Quinta Inn - Dunwoody,  The price was below any of the alternative hotels-motels in the area and it was a very nice place.  The best part is that they allow you to bring in your own food,  Nobody else let's you do that. It's a big potential savings. 

BEFORE asking them how much they charge, tell them how much you have budgeted and see if they will take it.

Food ideas
I freeze my raw bacon and then dice it up and put it in a freezer bag, back into the freezer.  When I want a few pieces,  I can get exactly what I need and never have to worry about spoilage in the fridge.

I also buy the discounted bananas, at the store, peel them and wrap them individually in plastic wrap and put them in the freezer.  Right out of the freezer they are like eating banana ice cream and make  great smoothies with other ingredients.

Social Calling Cards are very useful and tasteful
Why use a business card or a scribbled scrap of paper to share your contact information in social situaations>  Let me help you make some unique cards on a nice card stock.  I have a special business card cutter.  $10 or barter.

Do you need to clear out a basement or garage filled with handyman materials?  Donate them to a collage or community theater near you.  They always need set building supplies.  Old paint works for them since it only need to last a short time and nobody is getting up close to look at the texture.  And they will give you a tax donation form
